I don't know who picks the topics in the "English as a Second Language" book we use for our reading curriculum at my school. Whoever it was, I have some suggestions for articles they should take out for the next edition.
While zits are in fact an appropriate topic for my junior high students, it makes class discussions a bit awkward. Especially when they ask me to help them translate the meaning of the sentence: "As the levels of hormones in teen' bodies change. . ."
And if you don't think that is bad check out what the topic is for next week's class.
Did I mention I'm teaching this to a class of 12 and 13 year olds, predominately boys? Should be interesting!
